Hello world, pants off Australia!
Yep it's me and I have taken over the Venture...
Anna has stupidly/innocently let me have a go on her website...
My point of view so far.
So, it's been a month and we have settled into tropical life rather well. It's hot, bloody hot. Most days between 32-35 and humid too... But that being said I did have a sooky la la last night because I thought it was a bit cold... I think it went down to 24 or 25... Chilly!!
We are pretty much acclimatised now so that when it does go down to 30 or so then we can really have a good go on the bike.
Speaking of which, Anna is being an absolute star... we are training on these rather old/heavy/rusty bikes and when we first started we were cranking out about 30 minutes and a 10km or so... Today we did about 65kms and probably could have gone further with no real drama. So the Vietnam trip is looking good.
Funny Anna Moments so far
Every third or fourth evening Anna sees an insect or beetle or mozzie and all hell breaks loose. Think WW1 and chemical warfare... the hut we are in is carpet bombed.... the torch comes out to see if any living thing can be spotted and we then try to go to sleep... however she still doesn't sleep because she can hear/see/feel them in the middle of the night...
Anna should be in the London games for sprint cycling... I say this knowing that most of you will know she hasn't really shown a lot of interest in the sport. You have probably read in Anna's posts that Thai dogs love chasing her. I usually ride at the front and wake the dogs up... they then see Anna and they are off..... all I hear is a scream/then some barking... I turn around and see Anna FLYING... she is that fast and the dogs trailing behind... she flies past me... And it usually takes me about 30-40 seconds to catch up...
I read Anna's post about Chinese New Year.... she got SMASHED!!
So it is Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year and I take Anna to the China House Restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental... posh/expensive and really nice. Dim-sum and a buffet and Flowing White WIne.
Anna not liking much of the food coming round drank a few glasses. And having not drunk anything since the UK.... funny stuff.... A crazy tuk tuk ride later and I got her to her bed just before she passed out... Classic.
That's it....
2 weeks to go until our first day of cycling in Vietnam... pretty excited/nervous.
Hope you are all good....
Take care...
Dan
Flash.... ah-ahh saviour of the universe!
Hee you guest blogged!
I like the image of Anna flying past you being chased by ravenous dogs. Maybe they want to eat her because she smells better than you?
Oh hey and tell Anna that from the one photo we've seen of her she looks thinner- not that it should matter because she's deserving of fox whistles or cat calls just as she is.
You guys are guns. xxxx
