Yes it's true, Daniel and I are undertaking a Challenge for Ben in March 2010.
We are going to cycle from Hue to Ho Chi Minh which is about 1100 km. Having been inspired by Ben's life I have wanted to do something adventurous and memorable since I heard about Challenge4Ben. We start in March 2009 and are allowing 3-4 weeks for the ride. Eeek. I have probably not ridden for more than an hour since a cycling holiday when i was a wee lass and Daniel cycles to work every day but that takes about 3 minutes. This is going to be a genuine challenge, especially in the heat of Vietnam in March. We are undertaking this challenge as part of our round the world adventure which means training for it will be particularly hard but we are pretty determined so fingers crossed!
Challenge4Ben:
I used to sail at the Royal Channel Island's Yacht Club in Jersey with a great guy called Ben Poole. Sadly Ben died in July 2008 while on exercise to become a member of the UK Special Forces. His lovely parents Nick and Madeleine have established this charity to carry on Ben’s personal ethos of setting oneself demanding goals. Ben was a fun loving, determined and adventurous guy who I am proud to have known and I wish I could say i live my life as he did.
